The updated Honda Elevate is here, priced from ₹11.80 lakh to ₹18.40 lakh (ex-showroom). Before we get into the variants, three things make it stand out:

  1. Ventilated rear seats. The top ZX+ cools the rear seats as well as the front ones. Honda says this is a first in the segment.
  2. Two variants, one price. The VX automatic and the ZX manual both cost ₹15.39 lakh. One gives you an automatic gearbox, the other gives you ADAS. By the end of this guide you will know which matters more to you.
  3. A bigger boot than the Seltos. At 458 litres, the Elevate’s boot is larger than the Kia Seltos’s.

Below, we go through every variant’s price, what it gives you, what it leaves out, and who should buy it.

Variant by variant

Think of the variants as a ladder. At each step, ask yourself: is what I get worth the extra money, or should I stop here?

The monthly figures below are the extra EMI for each step, assuming a 5-year car loan at 9% interest (every ₹1 lakh adds about ₹2,075 a month).

1. SV: ₹11.80 lakh

What you get: six airbags, stability control (VSA), hill start assist, ISOFIX, rear parking sensors, LED projector headlamps, automatic AC, rear AC vents, keyless entry and push-button start.

What you miss: there is no touchscreen at all, no rear camera, 16-inch steel wheels, and it is manual only.

Stop here if: you want a safe, spacious SUV at the lowest price and plan to fit a music system later.

2. V: +₹49,000 (about ₹1,020 more per month)

What it adds: an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 4 speakers, a multi-angle rear camera, a rear defogger, Honda Connect (with Alexa and smartwatch support) and the option of the CVT automatic.

What you miss: sunroof, alloy wheels and LED fog lamps.

Stop here if: you want an automatic on a budget. At ₹13.79 lakh, the V CVT is the cheapest automatic Elevate. Even if you don’t, a touchscreen and a camera for ₹49,000 make the V a far better buy than the SV.

3. VX: +₹1.64 lakh (about ₹3,400 more per month)

This is the biggest price jump in the line-up.

What it adds: an electric sunroof, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, the new tri-bar LED lights and connected LED tail lamps, LED fog lamps, Honda’s LaneWatch camera (a left-side view when you indicate), a wireless charger, auto headlamps, a rear wiper, ambient lighting, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and 6 speakers.

What you miss: ADAS, ventilated seats and leather seats.

Stop here if: you want the premium look and a sunroof, but don’t need ADAS.

4. ZX: +₹1.46 lakh (about ₹3,030 more per month)

What it adds: Honda SENSING Level 2 ADAS (adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking and auto high beam), a bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen, ventilated front seats, leather seats, 8 speakers, an auto-dimming inside mirror and a rear centre armrest.

One thing to note: low-speed follow, which lets the car stop and go by itself in traffic, only works with the CVT.

What you miss: the 360-degree camera and ventilated rear seats.

Stop here if: you drive on highways a lot and want ADAS.

5. ZX+ and ZX+ Black: +₹1.41 lakh (about ₹2,930 more per month)

What it adds: a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, an 8-way power driver seat, a 4-way power co-driver seat and ventilated rear seats. The ZX+ CVT can also be had with a dual-tone black roof.

The ZX+ Black costs just ₹10,000 more. The features are the same; you get an all-black cabin, black leather seats and gloss black alloy wheels.

Climb to this step if: your family often has people in the back seat, or you need a 360-degree camera for city parking.

The Elevate’s strengths: ADAS and ventilated seats from ₹15.39 lakh, ventilated rear seats, and a big boot.

What it lacks: there is only one petrol engine (no turbo, diesel or hybrid), and no panoramic sunroof.

Warranty

Honda offers an Anytime Warranty of up to 10 years, renewed every year. Ask your dealer for the exact terms of the standard and extended warranty.

Our pick: ZX

₹15.39 lakh (manual) or ₹16.89 lakh (CVT).

It has Level 2 ADAS, the big 10.25-inch screen, ventilated front seats and leather seats. If your budget allows, take the CVT, because low-speed follow in traffic only works with it.
