Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG Variants Explained: Better Than Nexon and Brezza CNG?

Variant ladder starting ex-showroom prices, our pick in orange
Mahindra has launched a CNG version of the XUV 3XO, called ZNG, priced from ₹9.99 lakh to ₹12.27 lakh (ex-showroom). Three things make it stand out:
- It is Mahindra’s first CNG car.
- No power loss on CNG, says Mahindra. It makes about 111 PS and 200 Nm on CNG, the same as on petrol. The Nexon CNG, by comparison, loses about 20 PS when running on CNG.
- CNG range on the driver display. The cluster shows how many kilometres are left on CNG, just as it does for petrol. No other CNG car in this segment does this.
Below, we go through every variant’s price and features, compare it with the Nexon CNG and Brezza CNG, work out the monthly running cost, and pick the variant that makes the most sense.
Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG price list
| Variant | Price (6-speed manual) | Step up |
|---|---|---|
| MX Edge | ₹9.99 lakh | – |
| RevX Edge O | ₹10.79 lakh | +₹80,000 |
| AX5 | ₹11.19 lakh | +₹40,000 |
| RevX A | ₹12.27 lakh | +₹1.08 lakh |
Ex-showroom prices at launch (October 2026). Check the latest price with your dealer.
- Manual only. There is no automatic with CNG.
- The CNG costs about ₹90,000 to ₹1.19 lakh more than the petrol version of the same variant.
- Bookings and deliveries both start on 20 October.
What every variant gets
All four CNG variants come with:
- 6 airbags, ESC and ISOFIX as standard
- Disc brakes on all four wheels
- An automatic switch to petrol if a gas leak is detected
- CNG range, average and live mileage on the driver display
Variant by variant
The monthly figures are the extra EMI for each step, assuming a 5-year car loan at 9% (every ₹1 lakh adds about ₹2,075 a month).
1. MX Edge: ₹9.99 lakh
What you get: a 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto, rear camera, cruise control and rear AC vents.
What you miss: sunroof, push-button start and alloy wheels.
Stop here if: your budget is ₹10 lakh and you drive a lot every day. You still get the full safety kit.
2. RevX Edge O: +₹80,000 (about ₹1,650 more per month)
What it adds: panoramic sunroof, push-button start, automatic headlamps, leatherette seats and a dual-tone roof.
Stop here if: a panoramic sunroof matters to you. This is the cheapest way to get one on the 3XO CNG.
3. AX5: +₹40,000 (about ₹830 more per month)
What it adds: a digital driver display, dual-zone automatic AC, LED projector headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, connected-car features, tyre pressure monitoring (TPMS) and a rear wiper.
Watch out: the AX5’s sunroof is a single-pane one, not panoramic, and it does not get leatherette seats. So in two ways it has less than the cheaper RevX Edge O.
Stop here if: you want the most useful features for the money (our pick, see below).
4. RevX A: +₹1.08 lakh (about ₹2,250 more per month)
The top CNG variant.
What it adds: panoramic sunroof, Dolby Atmos audio and a black theme.
XUV 3XO CNG vs Nexon CNG vs Brezza CNG
There are now three CNG SUVs in this segment.
| Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG | Tata Nexon CNG | Maruti Brezza CNG | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starting price | ₹9.99 lakh | ₹8.35 lakh | About ₹60,000 less than 3XO |
| Power on CNG | About 111 PS | 100 PS | 88 PS |
| Torque on CNG | 200 Nm | 170 Nm | 121.5 Nm |
| Claimed mileage | 24.7 km/kg | 24 km/kg | 26.9 km/kg |
| Boot space | 270 litres | 321 litres | 328 litres |
| Spare wheel | Yes (under the car) | Yes (under the car) | No, puncture kit only |
| Rear brakes | Disc | Drum | Drum |
| CNG range on display | ✓ | ✗ | ✗ |
| Ground clearance | – | 208 mm | – |
| CNG variants | 4 | 18 | 3 |
Figures from the manufacturers, as quoted in our video. Rival prices change often.
Where the 3XO wins: the most power and torque on CNG, CNG range on the display, disc brakes all round, and the widest cabin with a wheelbase about 10 cm longer than the other two, so there is more room in the back.
Where the 3XO loses: boot space. At 270 litres it is the smallest of the three. The Brezza keeps a bigger boot because its CNG tank sits under the car, but that means it has no spare wheel.
Nexon CNG strengths: the cheapest, from ₹8.35 lakh, and available in 18 variants. It starts directly on CNG and has the highest ground clearance (208 mm). Its top variant also offers ventilated seats and a 360-degree camera, which no 3XO CNG variant has, though that variant costs ₹13.42 lakh.
Brezza CNG strengths: a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine without a turbo, so it is smooth and simple to drive. It has the best claimed mileage and the biggest boot. On the other hand, it has the least power, and CNG is offered in only three variants.
Safety: the tested versions of all three cars have a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating. For the 3XO CNG specifically, Mahindra says it is engineered for 5 stars.
Price: the 3XO CNG starts ₹1.64 lakh above the Nexon CNG and about ₹60,000 above the Brezza CNG.
Does CNG pay for itself?
Assuming you drive 1,500 km a month, using claimed mileage:
| Fuel price | Monthly fuel cost | |
|---|---|---|
| XUV 3XO petrol | ₹105 per litre | about ₹8,340 |
| XUV 3XO CNG | ₹86.98 per kg (Delhi) | about ₹5,280 |
| You save | about ₹3,000 a month |
- At 1,500 km a month, the CNG’s extra ₹90,000 to ₹1.19 lakh comes back in about 2.5 to 3 years.
- At 1,000 km a month, it takes 4 years or more.
So if you don’t drive much, the petrol version makes more sense. These numbers use claimed mileage. Real-world mileage will be lower for all three cars.
Which one should you buy?
- Budget up to ₹10 lakh and you drive a lot: the MX Edge CNG at ₹9.99 lakh. Full safety kit, plus touchscreen, rear camera and cruise control.
- You want a sunroof: the RevX Edge O CNG at ₹10.79 lakh. It gets the panoramic sunroof at this price.
- For most buyers: the AX5 CNG at ₹11.19 lakh. For just ₹40,000 more you get automatic climate control, a digital display, projector headlamps and alloy wheels. Just remember it does not have the panoramic sunroof.
- Boot space is your top priority: take a good look at the Brezza CNG.
Our pick: AX5 CNG
₹11.19 lakh. It has the full safety kit and the features you will actually use every day, for only ₹40,000 more than the RevX Edge O. If the panoramic sunroof is a must, step back to the RevX Edge O instead.
